Community Use
Community access within Extended Services is aimed at ensuring schools can contribute towards the health and well being of its community.
This is fulfilled by;
Making sports facilities, ICT, school hall and meeting rooms available to the community for clubs and associations, adult education and family learning. Harper Green provides letting opportunities where these events are open to all the community. The school will also provide free advertising for your community group on our “What’s Happening in Farnworth and the Surrounding Area” page and on our community noticeboards within school.
What is Harper Green doing in the local community?
Pupils and staff at Harper Green School take part in community litter picks every three weeks. Harper Green pupils care about the local community and do their upmost to ensure it is a positive environment to live in.
Year 10 ‘Learning For Life’ students and selected Yr 8 pupils joined forces with Lancashire Wildlife Trust and pruned hedges, planted shrubs and built habitats at Leverhulme Park this Summer. This is something we plan to get involved with every Summer.
We are in the process of setting up an environmental project with Bolton Council and are establishing strong community links with older members of our community. Equipment and tools have been donated from Bolton @ Home to enable us to help maintain gardens within the community. Other services we will be offering are shopping, care home visits and 'let's talk visits' for people living on their own.
